Intermediate Fire Engineer
Igneous Fire
We're growing, and we're on a hunt for an Intermediate Fire Engineer to join us. If you would like to gain experience on interesting projects, be part of a young(ish) dynamic team and work from an office with a view, reach out to us.
What we're looking for
- 1 to 3 years' fire engineering experience gained in New Zealand, with a solid working knowledge of the NZ Building Code and Building Act
- A relevant engineering degree (fire, mechanical, structural, or similar), and ideally some progress toward Masters in Fire
- Previous experience working in Fire Engineering consultancy
- Don't focus on generic report templates rather approach it as a story telling.
- A collaborative, team-first mindset, someone who'll pitch in, ask questions, and share what they know
- A friendly, upbeat personality. We spend a lot of hours together and we like the people we work with
- someone technically capable who also enjoys the people side of the job: someone easygoing and good-humoured, who'd rather talk a problem through with the team than sit on it alone
- Have a right to work in New Zealand
The role
We don't run a strict hierarchy here. Everyone, from graduates through to seniors, works together on projects and pitches in where they're needed. In this role you'll take on your own projects with a good degree of independence, while staying closely connected to the rest of the team. It's a genuinely team-based way of working rather than everyone sitting in their own lane.
- Preparing and reviewing fire engineering designs, alternative solutions, and fire reports for a range of building types
- Working alongside the rest of the team on more complex projects
- Pitching in on the day-to-day running of a collaborative, close-knit team
Why Igneous Fire
At Igneous Fire, we believe fire safety design shouldn't be a hassle, for our clients or for our team. We're a fire engineering consultancy in Auckland working across healthcare, residential, and commercial projects throughout New Zealand.
- Working directly with three well experienced engineers
- Real ownership of your own projects
- A flat, collaborative team structure with no silos
- A team that values clarity and practical thinking over box-ticking
