About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is seeking a finance professional whose expertise will make a real impact. The Management Accountant play a strategic and operational role in supporting Council’s financial performance and long-term sustainability.

In this dynamic position you will work closely with budget holders and senior stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert financial advice, analysis, and insight to drive effective planning and decision-making. From maintaining and developing budgeting and forecasting models to coordinating long-term financial scenario planning, your work will shape the future of our financial success.

 

About you | E pā ana ki a koe:

To succeed in this role, you will bring a mix of strong technical skills, analytical expertise, and collaborative energy to this role. Ideally you will have

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree in accounting (Chartered Accountant qualification preferred, not essential)
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and financial reporting systems
  • A keen eye for financial analysis, problem-solving, and risk assessment
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage effectively at all levels
  • An understanding and appreciation of tikanga Māori and Māori values in policy and planning
