The Department of Paediatrics: Child and Youth Health delivers high-quality teaching and research programmes that contribute to improving child health outcomes across Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

The FRACP Paediatrics Teaching Programme is a well-established, high-impact postgraduate medical education programme supporting paediatric trainees across New Zealand and Australia in preparation for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Part 1 Written Examination.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Programme Administration Coordinator to support the delivery and ongoing development of our flagship FRACP Paediatrics Teaching Programme.

This role plays a critical part in coordinating a large-scale postgraduate medical education programme, including the Weekly Teaching Programme and the Intensive Two-Week Course, delivered to trainees across Australasia.

This role also plays an important pastoral function, supporting trainees through a demanding stage of their clinical training and contributing to a positive and supportive learning environment.

Working closely with the Course Convenor and academic faculty, you will contribute to both the operational delivery and continuous improvement of the programme, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for participants.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position , based at the Grafton Campus.

The salary range for this role is $63,600 - $79,300 dependent on skills and experience

Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

You will report to the Academic Operations Team Leader and work closely with The Head of Department and the FRACP Course Convenor, alongside a network of clinical educators and academic staff.

The programme involves collaboration with over 70 clinicians and supports hundreds of trainees annually across New Zealand and Australia, making it one of the most established postgraduate paediatric teaching programmes in the region.

You will be a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with experience in programme coordination, ideally within a higher education or healthcare setting.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders, and take initiative to improve systems and processes. You also bring a genuine interest in supporting student and trainee wellbeing, with the ability to provide empathetic and professional pastoral support.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in programme coordination, administration, or education delivery
  • Experience working in a complex organisation (e.g. university, healthcare, or clinical environment)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to provide pastoral and learner-focused support, with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of digital literacy (e.g. learning platforms, Zoom, databases)
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience in postgraduate or clinical education environments
  • Experience supporting curriculum delivery or assessment processes
