About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our After Hours Clinic team at Kaitaia Hospital. This autonomous and advanced practice role provides expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients presenting to the After Hours Clinic. Working both independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in delivering equitable, high-quality healthcare to the Far North community while supporting service development and clinical excellence. Key responsibilities include: Provide care to rangatahi with a focus on assessing, diagnosing, treating, empowering and supporting patients/tūroro/tangata whai ora and their whānau using evidenced-based knowledge and skills to achieve optimal health outcomes. Focus on complex patient/tūroro/tangata whai ora management to reduce the progression of disease, enable equity of access, promote wellness, limit disease, and prevent avoidable hospital admissions. While autonomous in their practice, will work in collaboration with other providers including Māori health providers, Pacific health providers, other district health services and primary health care Provide expert clinical leadership that builds a highly skilled nursing workforce and fosters supportive and collegial workplace culture. Click here for view the position description. About the Team/Service/Location Kaitaia Hospital is Health New Zealands northernmost hospital. It is a general hospital serving a widely scattered population. The 20 bed hospital has a general ward, maternity and emergency ward with all the supporting services, and provides a substantial community health service. The After Hours Clinic is part of the Outpatient Department and is fully functional for presentations in evenings and weekends. They work on a shift roster which will involve evenings and weekends and provide assistance in triaging presentations to the After Hours Clinic. For more information on living and working in Northland click here About you As a Nurse Practitioner, you will bring extensive clinical expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for improving health outcomes. You will have: Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ and with a current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Nurse Practitioner A minimum of 4 years of experience in the specific area of practice Clinical Masters degree or equivalent A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written) including report writing. The ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong collaborative relationships across services and disciplines. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and culturally safe practice.
