Senior Accountant / Finance Manager - Global FMCG Expansion

Location: Pokeno / South Auckland

Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 per annum

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Senior Accountant ready for your next step, or a Finance Manager looking for a high-ownership role where you can build something from the ground up?

A global FMCG business is expanding its presence in New Zealand and is looking for a hands-on finance professional to take ownership of its local accounting operations and help establish a strong financial foundation for the NZ business. You’ll work closely with the local leadership team while acting as a key link between the New Zealand operation and the wider finance team in China.

What you’ll own

Cash & Treasury

• Take ownership of day-to-day treasury and cash-flow management
• Monitor local cash positions and establish strong financial controls
• Ensure appropriate processes are in place to safeguard company funds

NZ Accounting & Compliance

• Manage end-to-end NZ tax and statutory requirements, including GST, FBT and income tax
• Oversee IRD compliance and year-end audit preparation
• Ensure local accounting practices align with NZ requirements and group standards

Financial Operations

• Own the general ledger and month-end close
• Prepare financial and management reporting
• Analyse variances and provide meaningful insight into business performance
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls

China HQ Partnership

• Act as the key finance contact between the NZ operation and the China-based finance team
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to group
• Help align local financial processes with wider group requirements

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable getting into the detail while also taking ownership of the bigger financial picture.

You’ll Ideally Bring

• Strong hands-on experience across NZ accounting and financial operations
• Sound knowledge of NZ tax, IRD requirements and financial compliance
• Experience managing month-end, reporting and financial controls
• Commercial experience in FMCG, manufacturing, supply chain or another product-based environment
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA/CPA qualification or progress towards one is preferred
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Mandarin and English fluency is strongly preferred given the close relationship with the China-based team

Location

The role is initially based in Pokeno / South Auckland. We’re also open to candidates elsewhere in New Zealand who are willing to relocate, with flexibility around future location as the NZ operation continues to expand.
