About the RoleWe are seeking to appoint a Paediatric Registrar who will provide services to the Paediatric ward, Neonatal Unit, ICU, A&E and Outpatients Department under the supervision of the paediatric consultant staff.
The duration of this run is 12 months.
The run is accredited as a training position for specialist qualification for the FRACP as contributing to Basic or Advanced Paediatric training.Clinical ResponsibilitiesDay to day clinical management of the service's including the admission and clerking of acute admissions, attendance at consultant ward rounds and routine ward work in conjunction with the house surgeon.Involved in the supervision and teaching of the House Surgeon / SHO doctors in the department.Responsible after hours to the on‐call Consultant for all the patients under the care of the Child and Newborn Service.Attendance and conduct of outpatient clinics.The Registrar will attend the regular paediatric X‐ray review meeting and the weekly Paediatric Teaching, and is expected to present at these sessions from time to time.Registrars attend training and education opportunities including a general tutorial session weekly, Clinical Grand Rounds where you may present cases when necessary, Paediatric and Radiology teaching.About YouCandidates should be PGY3 or greater.Your main duties will be performed in the acute children's ward 2B and neonatal unit, with occasional duties in other areas including:Delivery SuitePostnatal wardChild and adolescent centre outpatients (CACC)Emergency departmentTheatreAbout TaranakiTaranaki boasts some of New Zealand's most iconic natural landscapes like Mt Taranaki and many adventure activities.
