The Company
My client is the NZ subsidiary of a large UK listed company, based in Parnell. The business is large and continuing to grow significantly winning large contracts and are a significant leader in their industry.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will lead the transactional finance function, overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial processing.
You will play a key role in strengthening financial controls, supporting month-end activities, improving processes, and developing a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities will include the following:
- Partner with operational and business stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver excellent service
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives and system enhancements
- Lead the end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, receipts, and reconciliations
- Monitor aged debt and creditor balances, driving improvements in working capital performance
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and compliance frameworks
- Manage and mentor a team, providing coaching, development, and performance leadership
- Support audit activities and statutory compliance requirements
Your Profile
You are a proactive finance professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership capability.
To be successful, you will bring:- 5+ years' experience in finance, accounting, or transactional finance leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience managing Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable teams
- Strong month-end, reconciliation, and financial control experience
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A track record of driving process improvement and operational efficiencies
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Highly regarded skills include:
- CA or CPA qualification (or working towards)
- ERP experience such as SAP, Oracle, or similar systems
- Experience within large, complex, multi-site organisations
- Knowledge of New Zealand GST and tax requirements
