About the Role As a Nurse Educator, you will provide leadership in clinical education and professional development across Tumanako Inpatient Unit and He Manu Pae Sub-Acute Unit. Working closely with nursing leadership, you will design, coordinate and deliver education programmes that support clinical excellence, workforce capability and positive patient outcomes. The role focuses on developing nursing competence, supporting orientation and onboarding, mentoring staff, facilitating professional development, promoting evidence-based practice, and leading quality improvement initiatives. About the Team/Service/Location Inpatient mental health services are delivered through Tumanako, a 29-bed inpatient unit at Whangārei Hospital and He Manu Pae, a six-bed subacute unit based in a community setting. These services provide specialist assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery-focused care for people experiencing mental health challenges. Our teams are committed to delivering safe, person-centre and culturally responsive care while supporting recovery, wellbeing and positive outcomes for tangata whaiora and their whānau. For more information on living and working in Northland click here About you We are seeking an experienced mental health nurse who is passionate about education, leadership and developing others to achieve their full potential. You will bring: Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate PDRP at Designated Senior Nurse level (or equivalent) A postgraduate diploma or equivalent advanced nursing qualification A minimum of 3 years experience within mental health nursing Strong coaching, mentoring and relationship-building skills with experience supporting staff development and clinical learning Excellent communication, facilitation and organisational skills A commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based practice and patient-centred care Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
