Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking an experienced and respected GP to join us as our GP Liaison Advisor: Primary-Secondary Integration.
This is a unique opportunity to provide clinical leadership at a system level, helping strengthen relationships between general practice and hospital services, improve access to care, and support initiatives that create a more seamless experience for patients.
About the Role
Working closely with primary care, hospital specialists, clinical leaders and health system partners, you will:
* Strengthen communication and collaboration between primary and secondary care.
* Support the development and implementation of integrated models of care and clinical pathways.
* Provide strategic advice on issues affecting primary-secondary care integration.
* Enhance referral processes and support appropriate access to specialist services.
* Build the capability of primary care to support patients before, during and after specialist treatment.
* Contribute to the development of HealthPathways and other service improvement initiatives.
* Act as a key clinical advisor within Health New Zealand Taranaki, working alongside the Professional Leads for Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health.
* Serve as a trusted conduit between general practice and hospital services, ensuring both sectors have a strong voice in service development.About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
* Hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
* Maintain appropriate medical indemnity cover.
* Have significant experience in general practice and a strong understanding of secondary care services.
* Be clinically current and ideally actively involved in clinical practice.
* Bring established relationships and credibility across both primary and secondary care sectors.
* Have excellent communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills.
* Demonstrate a commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement and achieving health equity.
* Understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe healthcare delivery.About the Team/Service/ Location
