Due to continued growth and a demanding, varied workload, we are looking for a qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Auckland-based team.
About The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying tasks. You will support the commercial and project teams across estimating, cost management, progress claims, variations, invoicing, and final accounts.
While this role is based in Auckland, some travel to other regions may be required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and driving a strong pipeline of work through your construction industry knowledge, Cake’s existing customer base, and your own network of contacts
- Working closely with the administration team to ensure accurate cost reporting and strong financial performance across projects
- Assisting Project Managers with the preparation, collation, and negotiation of variations
- Preparing and reviewing final accounts
- Completing detailed and accurate quantity take-offs from 2D or CAD construction drawings
- Collating pricing for large-scale projects prepared by the Commercial team
- Working proactively with the internal management team to ensure material take-offs and quotations are completed within agreed timeframes
- Assisting with monthly progress claims and invoicing
- Reviewing payments received and supporting commercial analysis where required
Our reputation for site delivery is second to none. In this role, you will help ensure our numbers, commercial details, tenders, and project outcomes are equally strong.
Skills And Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience in a senior QS, estimator, or commercial construction role
- Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Good computer skills
- Practical experience with pre-contract and post-contract commercial processes
- CAD or BIM experience would be beneficial, but is not essential

Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a clean, full driver licence
- Have New Zealand Citizenship, residency, or a valid work visa
- Be currently based in New Zealand and legally able to work
- Be able to meet any required pre-employment checks, including drug and alcohol testing where applicable
