About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant within our Children's Ward, you will play an important role in supporting tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau during their hospital journey.
Under the direction and delegation of a registered nurse (RN) the HCA provides assistance to patients to meet their activities of daily living, comfort and safety needs.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with people, thrives in a team environment, and is passionate about making a positive difference.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Provide hygiene, toileting, dressing, eating / drinking and mobilisation assistance as directed by RN.Assist with meals and drinks service under the direction or supervision of a RN.Uses communication skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients and the healthcare team.Assists with bed making, assembling patient bed spaces for admission and discharge.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Childrens Ward is located in the recently completed facilities in the Te Kotuku Building at Whangārei Hospital.
This is a 22-bed paediatric ward and a 4-bed acute assessment unit providing care for medical, orthopaedic and surgical patients.
The ward cares for children from birth through to their 16th birthday.
