Health Care Assistant, Discharge Team

* This is a new opportunity, developed to support our adult inpatient discharge processes.
The role assists in the management of patients ready for discharge to the discharge lounge and supports the cleaning of clinical equipment and preparing bedspaces for new admissions.
This role will assist in strengthening the work within inpatient units across the organisation.

About the Role
This role is task orientated and focussed on supporting patient discharging.
This may involve assisting in getting patients for discharge up and dressed, transfer of appropriate patients to the discharge lounge and cleaning in the clinical environment in consultation with the Charge Nurse of the area and / or the Discharge Team lead.
Cleaning will require attention to detail, high energy levels, good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with ward staff.
The clinical environment is a busy space, where you will be required to function at a high level.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with:
* Ability to work collaboratively
* Effective communication in all situations
* Computer literacy
* Understanding of scope of practice
* Willingness to complete required professional development (HCA study days, caregiver level 3 NZQA)
* An understanding and respect of kaupapa Māori and relationships within te ao Māori.
* Ability to perform the required physical tasks.

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua – MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand.
Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery.
The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
