About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a Biosecurity Auditor you will deliver a regulatory function under the Biosecurity Act **** and complete audits and monitor performance of Biosecurity New Zealand's border verification programmes.
You will be responsible for auditing verification programmes that strengthen the biosecurity system, reducing the likelihood of pests and diseases impacting New Zealand.
The verification programme consists of completing regulatory audit requirements for:
* Transitional Facilities
* Grain Import Systems
* Places of First Arrival
* Border Clearance Services Verification programmes which includes completing regulatory audit requirements for Transitional Facilities, Grain Import Systems, Ports of First Arrival and the Recognised Cruise Line Programme.
Biosecurity Auditors deliver pre-approval verification of businesses and operators, conducting investigations, and unannounced verification where required.
This includes following up on critical non-compliances and/or gathering information required by Biosecurity New Zealand.
The role plays a vital role in protecting New Zealand's Primary Industries and provides assurance for trade which underpins New Zealand's economy and wellbeing.
The key scope of the role includes:
* Auditing – various activities such as participating in setting audit schedules to conduct meetings with senior management teams; writing audit reports, peer review and calibration exercises, and recording and maintaining biosecurity data.
* Compliance – verifying facilities that are not performing to help ensure they are compliant with relevant standards, systems, procedures in accordance with the Biosecurity Act ****.
Conducting unannounced audits is also part of the role.

* A relevant recognised qualification or significant experience in auditing, compliance or risk and assurance.
* Experience in managing internal and external relationships with an range of stakeholders, with demonstrated success in building relationships.
* Experience adhering to standards such as ISO:***** and duties of authorised signatories.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, elicit and evaluate objective evidence, and ensure appropriate rectification of non-compliance.
* In-depth knowledge of biosecurity legislation and/or specific sector standards and its application is advantageous
* A full, valid New Zealand driver's licence is essential, as is a willingness to travel within New Zealand when required.
If you are successful, you will be expected to attend and successfully complete a comprehensive training course.
You will also be required to pass a Criminal Conviction Check and a drug and alcohol pre-employment screening test.

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
Biosecurity New Zealand (BNZ) plays a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders.
It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur.
This role will report to the Assistant Commissioner Central/South, working in a dedicated team of Biosecurity Auditors that are based across the country.
You will receive comprehensive training and be provided with support from the team to ensure your success in this role.
