Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Being a Senior Mechanical Engineer requires a bachelor’s degree of Mechanical Engineering. May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. In addition, Senior Mechanical Engineer typically reports to a manager. Being a Senior Mechanical Engineer contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Responsibilities:

  • Technical management of vendor packages;
  • Detail design calculation for conveyor systems, piping systems and platework;

  • Integration of the selected mechanical equipment into functional systems;

Requirements:

  • Professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer;
  • Gained vast experience in a senior role and management of staff;
  • Responsible for the design, specification and implementation monitoring;
  • BSc: Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in plumbing, drainage, medical gases, lifts, escalators, air conditioning, heating and ventilation as well as refrigeration;
  • BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Minimum 7 years experience;
  • 10 years experience;
  • Great communication and leadership skills;
  • Working knowledge of relevant South African standards (SANS, National Building Regulations);
  • PMP optional, but would be highly beneficial;
  • Valid Drivers license;
  • B. Eng or B. Sc Mechanical Engineering;
  • 5 year’s design experience in mechanical building services projects;
  • Pr Eng registered.
