The Network/Systems Administrator I monitors network performance and performs testing to provide diagnosis of issues and to assist with deployment of solutions. Assists with the daily administration of a network/server environment. Being a Network/Systems Administrator I may be responsible for tracking the parts inventory and maintenance of documentation. Performs routine updates and maintenance tasks. In addition, Network/Systems Administrator I emphasis is on learning the key aspects of the job to be performed and supporting more senior administrators. Requires a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. May require Network Administrator certification. Being a Network/Systems Administrator I works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Our company is looking for a Network System Administrator to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of latest changes and feature availability for Linux and virtualization environments;
  • Recommend and implement best practices of capacity planning, disaster recovery, and high-availability solution regarding Linux servers;
  • Demonstrate exceptional hardware and software troubleshooting skills and consistent attention to detail;
  • Ability to harden Linux systems and other running services such as Postgres, Apache, etc;
  • Configure, monitor, and manage physical storage and file systems on LINUX servers;
  • Perform resource monitoring, performance tuning, and scaling of infrastructure as needed;
  • Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of OS, provisioning, email and web based applications;
  • Develop and maintain automation systems to improve Linux administrative efficiency;
  • Maintain and administer computer networks, servers, and systems;
  • Develop, implement, test and document best practices/standards.

Requirements:

  • Performance tuning and monitoring (Nagios, Catci and Solarwinds);
  • Technical documentation skills;
  • Shell scripting and Security hardening;
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies;
  • Postgres database administration is a plus;
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired;
  • Full-Time position(s) available;
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware;
  • 3-5 years experience with RHEL, CentOS, system administration in an enterprise environment;
  • Experienced in networking, routing and switching, familiar with tools such as Microsoft AD, Pfsense and etc;
  • Familiar with scaling, load balancing, storage and network infrastructure;
  • Proven experience in a network administrator role;
  • Experience in writing automation scripts and self-service tools;
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills with little supervision (email, network, hardware, OS);
  • Internet server protocols and utilities (DNS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, HTTP/S, TLS, S/FTP, TCP/IP, SSH, iptables).
