Helper Required – Home and community based (Churton Park, Wellington)

Are you someone who believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to access a good life? Are you a great home baker and cook? We are looking for someone to support an awesome, 26 year old man who is on the Autism Spectrum to achieve his goal of living independently in his local community.

About the Role
Shopping, cooking and baking:

Oversee cooking and baking a number of recipes so that he can cook these independently of support (this includes baking for lunches and meals)
Assist with the weekly shopping for himself and shared flat items

Encouraging house-proud behaviour:

Using your excellent eye for detail, you will take note of the living spaces and how they are looking, ensuring that a healthy, tidy environment is maintained
Support & encourage increased awareness and ownership of these spaces

Communication with the family:

Write in a shared document between yourself and the family, keeping them updated on his progress

About You

You are someone who is patient, kind and encouraging
You have an excellent eye for detail
You believe everyone deserves to live their best life and are proactive in facilitating this
You are able to assume confidence and have high expectations
You are comfortable stepping back as skills are mastered and encouraging independence and growth

Hours required
This has some flexibility. The current helper is working 4.00 – 6 / 6.30pm two evenings per week. We are open to discussing hours/days with the right candidate.
This young man currently flats in an independent environment with 4 other people. You will come into contact with other flatmates from time to time as you work alongside him.
He cooks one meal per week for some of the other flatmates. Other times, he will eat pre-prepared frozen meals. He takes his lunch most days, so bakes a number of learned recipes.
A competitive pay rate will be offered to the right person.
