Division Overview

The Process Engineering Team provides excellence in delivering project services. A team of specialists responsible for Process and Process Safety engineering, analysis and designs, calculations and work products, resolving challenges and complex problems and adding value to our clients. This division provides expertise and services in accordance with the following functions:

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise and Quality of Work

• Responsible for coordinating, preparing, and timely delivering Process & Process Safety engineering designs, assessments, simulations, calculations and documents.

• Carry out feasibility studies, concept designs and cost estimates.

• Process equipment design, datasheets, specifications and procurement recommendations.

• Support in the development of process safety management assessments, deliverables and work products, including PHA, HAZOP, SFAIRP/ALARP, Audits, Risk Assessments and Safety Cases

• Demonstrate an ability to find efficient and pragmatic solutions while aligning with industry best practices, codes, standards and project/client objectives.

• Support the QA/QC processes within the process team, participate in squad checks and audits, and report on and rectify any issues.

• Properly close out assigned tasks and deliverables, including preparing lessons learned which are suitable for others to benefit from.

• Participate and support in establishing practices, templates, policies, and tools and ensure these are expanded on and are appropriate for the whole organisation to use.

• Adhere to regulations, codes, standards, company and client policies and procedures.

• Working knowledge of regulations, codes, and standards such as API, EPA, WorkSafe, and HSNO.

Internal Relationships

• Display leadership within the team by motivating team members to meet project and client goals and objectives, adhering to their responsibilities and project requirements.

• Work with and support the Process and Process Safety Engineering Manager in developing and delivering on corporate initiatives as required.

• Monitor your performance and complete/support performance reviews as required.

• Attend meetings and participate as a leader.

• Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and non-verbally.

• Contribute to your development as a Process Engineer.

• Promote & Demonstrate alignment to Five-D Core Values.

External Relationships

• Build and maintain relationships by supporting teams, clients & stakeholders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives.

• Build and maintain relationships with Regulators, certifiers and relevant agencies, service providers & suppliers.

Continuous Improvement

• Maintain a path of learning to grow skills and knowledge base.

• Attend conferences and events as required.

• Identify and participate in training to assist with professional development.

• Keep up to date with the latest technology, standards and legislative requirements within the discipline.

Business Development

• Continue to demonstrate innovation by identifying opportunities and liaising with Process and Process Safety Engineering Manager and Project Managers

• Contribute to a positive workplace culture and professional company image .

HSE and QA

• Work within the policies, Management systems and procedures of Five-D.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

• 10+ years’ experience in the industry as an Engineer.

• Site experience in Process or Chemical is preferred

• Professional membership or eligibility to join.

Skills & Attributes

•Extensive understanding of Process, Chemical and Control engineering principles, methods and techniques.

• Experience with Formal Safety Assessment techniques (Hazard ID, Risk Assessment & SFAIRP/ALARP assessments) and Safety Case development.

• Experience working within and leading project teams for Process / Process Safety projects.

• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment, demonstrating confidence to lead others, teamwork, innovation and excellence.

• Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills.

• Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.

• Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Full NZ driver's license
