Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join our pharmacology/neuroscience team on a fixed term basis and provide key support for staff and students across a variety of technical operations essential to research and research outputs.

Some of the responsibilities include:

Supporting the ongoing operational requirements for assigned research fields, as directed
Liaise regularly with researchers to arrange appropriate storage or disposal of equipment, work, materials, substances, and samples, in line with established protocols
Assist researchers to produce outputs of publishable quality by reliably following established procedures
Carry out experimental work under academic guidance to produce experimental data
Maintain assigned equipment by undertaking or arranging scheduled maintenance, repairs, calibration, testing, and upgrading of hardware and software to ensure optimal functionality, availability for use, and reliability of data produced
Train staff and students in specialist techniques and use of scientific equipment

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), fixed term contract ending 31/8/25.

Qualifications

You will need:

A BSc, BBiomedSc in relevant discipline
4-5 years inclusive of time spent during practical work experience or experience gained while completing tertiary study
Experience in performing biochemical assays
Experience in animal handling and in vivo manipulation

We are interested in developing and testing new antibody and gene therapy treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. This is an excellent opportunity to join our group and work in this research field alongside two Research Fellows, a Senior Research Technician and three PhD students.
